Protection Modules

CyberTankz uses the classic 2018 module system — the version many veterans consider the most balanced. Protection modules are defensive upgrades you equip on your tank to survive longer in battle. They do not change your turret or hull directly; instead they sit in dedicated module slots and give you shields, emergency healing and resistances against specific damage types.

This page covers only the 2018 system. Later experimental module reworks are not used in CyberTankz — we deliberately kept the 2018 version for its cleaner balance.

How the 2018 module system works

The 2018 system is built around three ideas:

  • Module parts. Modules are unlocked and upgraded using parts earned from containers and rewards. The more parts you collect for a module, the higher its tier.
  • Tiers. Each module has rising tiers — Common → Rare → Epic → Legendary — with stronger effects at every step.
  • Slots. You can equip a limited number of modules at once, so you must choose which protections matter most for your build and game mode.

Modules come in two flavours: passive modules that are always active, and active modules that you trigger manually during battle (with a cooldown between uses).

Protection modules

Forcefield

ActiveShield

When activated, Forcefield surrounds your tank with a protective bubble that blocks incoming damage for a short time. The shield duration and strength grow with each tier. Perfect for pushing into fire, surviving a focus or carrying a flag through a chokepoint.

Use it when: you are about to take heavy fire or need to commit to an objective.

Emergency Protection

PassiveAuto-trigger

A lifesaver that automatically activates when your health drops to a critical level, granting a brief window of damage reduction (and at higher tiers, a small heal) to let you escape or fight back. Has an internal cooldown, so it cannot save you twice in quick succession.

Best for: aggressive players who often end up at low health.

Fire Resistance

PassiveResistance

Reduces the damage you take from Flamethrower and other burning effects. Essential on close-range maps where fire brawlers dominate. Higher tiers cut burn damage dramatically.

Counters: Flamethrower.

Freeze Resistance

PassiveResistance

Reduces the slowing effect and damage of Freeze, keeping you mobile when an enemy tries to lock you down. Invaluable for flag runners and fast hulls.

Counters: Freeze.

Reinforced Armour

PassiveBonus HP

Increases your tank's effective maximum health, giving you a larger buffer in every fight. A simple, reliable choice that works with any hull and any game mode.

Best for: frontline and heavy-hull players.

Crisis / Anti-Critical

PassiveDamage reduction

Reduces the chance and severity of critical hits landed against you (notably from Smoky). A subtle but powerful module against high-burst weapons in long battles.

Counters: Smoky and other crit-based damage.
